Type & Design Elements

The exhibition featured photos taken from as early as the 1940s and current day images to show the urbanization and changes that took place in the city. The timeline was an important element in the design to show that theme.

Challenges and process

Using an image with type on it, I didn’t want that to compete too much with the exhibition details, but using a monochromatic photo it is much less distracting. Another challenge was wanting to feature multiple images, but to keep the design simple. The timeline was useful in conveying that element of the exhibition without crowding the poster with too much imagery.
